Monthly/Seasonal theme
So, if you're a member over at Ladycops, this will seem a little familiar. Just thought I'd throw it up over here too.

Typically, October kicks off the holiday season with a hell of a bang, and really is the tip of the iceberg. With the advent of autumn, you've got some really great events/holidays like Mischief night, Halloween, All Saints Day, All Souls Day, Day of the Dead, Samhain, and as the season shifts on into winter with November and December, there's Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and everything that leads up to Mardi Gras. I know there are other holidays that I'm undoubtedly forgetting but it's been almost eight years since I've been in the northern hemisphere, and they've already broken out the Christmas stuff here. [facepalm]

What I'm aiming to get at is with the wind up to one of the buisiest and chaotic holiday seasons for the Northern hemisphere, there's this massively family, oriented season to work with. It's completely overloaded, but houses some of the most inspiring external events and settings to work with. And you can go even further than that with the Nola specific festivals, events, fairs, and things going on, because it doesn't matter what time of year it is, there is *always* something on.

One/two in particular that I reckon needs to be mentioned despite having passed are

White Linen Night and Dirty Linen Night, because really, as if we ever needed an excuse for Nora Delaney or Nikki Beaumont in white...but it is nice to have a legitimate one. For a monthly breakdown of goings on in Nola, check out this particular listing. ^^ With October and Halloween in mind, this fandom has itself a positively brilliant setting that lends itself so well to the night/season in question between such an assorted history, the massive mixture of cultures, and the atmosphere is just as powerful as any character.

So, I have a proposition. Would anyone be interested in participating or signing up for a Halloween/October themed...thing? I name it a thing a I don't know if people would be interested in a contest, a 'calendar' of sorts, challenge, or just a good, old fashioned 'pledge' of 'I'm going to write a story.'

A big reason why I suggest this is -personally- I work best under a deadline and time-constraints. I already have a story in mind (and have had it since before *last* Halloween), and really would like to get something on the damn thing posted. I mean, I talk a lot about writing with these two, but thus far, I'm kind of all talk, nothing to show...which is just not cool. Especially as I have over 10 stories worked on at this point. [facepalm] I hope that by committing myself to something with a deadline, it might kick my muse and my ass into finishing a project (it usually works).

Is anyone interested in participating along or do you have any ideas as to what way of going about this would be best? Or, if all else fails, will someone out there kick me in the rear end if the 31st of October has come and gone and there's been no fic from me?
